Dogpile is a metasearch engine that "fetches" results from About, Ask Jeeves, FindWhat, Google, LookSmart, MSN, Teoma, Yahoo! and several other popular search engines.
Dogpile began operations in November of 1996 and became part of the Go2net Network in 1999 which in turn was acquired by Infospace, Inc. (Infospace also owns Metacrawler, Webcrawler and Excite).
In 2005, Dogpile published a study about first page web search engine results overlap. The study showed 3% overlap between Google, Yahoo, and Ask Jeeves. 85% of the results were unique to one of the three engines.
