monster.com

Monster.com was created in 1999 by the merger of The Monster Board and Online Career Center which were two of first and most popular career web sites on the Internet. The Online Career Center was the Internet's first and at the time, most frequently accessed career web site.

Today Monster.com is still one of largest job search web sites on the Internet claiming over a million job postings at any time.

The first President of the new Monster.com business was Bill Warren, the founder of Online Career Centre. Bill Warren received the 1997 Employment Management Association's prestigious Pericles Pro Meritus Award, an honor presented by EMA/SHRM in recognition of being the founder of online recruiting on the Internet.

The first CEO of Monster.com was Jeff Taylor the founder of The Monster Board. The Monster Board pt started as a Bulletin Board System (BBS) for job postings but ended up as a web site in April 1994. Later in 1994, The Monster Board issued a press release that was picked up and provided needed exposure to drive people to the web site. In April 1995, The Monster Board was sold to TMP Worldwide.

In June 1998, The Monster Board moved its corporate headquarters to an old textile mill in Maynard, Massachusetts that formerly housed Digital Equipment Corporation. In January 1999, The Monster Board became known as Monster.com after merging with Online Career Center, another of TMP Worldwide's properties. Monster.com advertised on the Super Bowl the same year and every year through Super Bowl XXXVIII. In late 2001 or early 2002, Monster.com dropped the ".com" from its name and began referring to itself as "Monster".

Monster is the flagship Brand of Monster Worldwide, Inc.
