Catching Flu and Cold During Pregnancy

If you happen to catch a cold or flu during pregnancy, then your baby should be a top priority. Pregnant women usually have a weaker immune system, so it is very important to stay healthy.

Cold and flu present similar symptoms, but they are two different conditions. There is a need to make a clear distinction between the two conditions. Cold symptoms are usually milder than flu symptoms and these symptoms can be:

  • fever
  • fatigue
  • headaches
  • cough
  • sneezing
  • runny nose

Flu symptoms:

  • fever
  • fatigue
  • headaches
  • cough
  • sneezing
  • runny nose
  • chills
  • sweating

If you happen to get these symptoms during pregnancy, some medicines should not be administered, as they can harm the baby. In order to cure disease, you can try some of the following home remedies:

  • drink plenty of water
  • eat soup
  • gargle with salt and warm water
  • get plenty of rest

It is advised that pregnant women must vigilant against such diseases and must take care to avoid catching common colds or flu.
