All are aware of the health problems caused by smoking, such as emphysema, cancer and heart diseases. It also has permanent effect on the lungs, the heart, the eyes, the throat, the urinary tract, the digestive organs, the bones and joints, and the skin. Other diseases may include chronic bronchitis, coronary heart diseases, stroke, abdominal aortic aneurysm, acute myeloid leukemia, cataract, pneumonia, periodontitis, and bladder, laryngeal, esophageal, lung, oral, throat, cervical, kidney, stomach, and pancreatic cancers. Smoking also brings about infertility, peptic ulcer diseases and slows healing of wounds. Chronic lung diseases make up 73 percent of smoking-related conditions and 53 percent for those who have quit.

Pregnant women who smoke give birth to premature babies.  20 to 30 percent of the babies have low-birth weight, 10 percent fail to survive and 40 percent of the deliveries are preterm. The babies who may seem to be healthy are found to have narrowed airways and reduced lung function.  Health care cost for maternal smoking is estimated to be $ 366 million per year $ 704 per maternal smoker. Smoking women also have a higher risk of lower bone density and hip fracture than women who never smoked.

Each year 440,000 or nearly one in five people die each year in the United States due to the adverse health effects of smoking, which is higher than the deaths that are caused by HIV aids, illegal drug use, alcohol use, motor vehicle injuries, suicides and murders combined.

When my friends see my long healthy hair, they ask me the secret of my beautiful hair. I tell them it is my diet and that there is no other secret at all.

Add the following food to your diet to see your hair get better and thicker. These foods are rich in protein and we all know that hairs are made up of protein called keratin.

Salmon is a good food for hair. You may wonder why. Well, that is because of the fact that it is not only rich in vitamin D but also in proteins and omega 3 fatty acids. All of these are great for your hair growth.

Essential fatty acids are a great way to keep your scalp nourished. Walnuts are a great source of this type of fatty acids. They are also rich in vitamin E and biotin.

You can prevent hair loss by simply adding zinc to your diet. Deficiency of zinc leads to hair loss. Oysters are rich in zinc.

Vitamin A is a must for a healthy dandruff free scalp. Carrots, sweet potatoes, cantaloupe, pumpkin, mangoes etc are rich in this vitamin.

Dried, puffy and coarse hair is the result of use of excessive chemicals. Externally applied strong chemicals can damage the hair cuticles, letting the harsh winds and other factors encounter directly with the hair strands. Definition:

Fasting is an act of abstinence from not only food and drink but also from evil doings such as telling lies.

The word fasting comes from the Anglo-Saxon word faesten meaning “to hold oneself for food”. Fast starts from dawn(fajr) till sunset(maghrib), which means one should not eat and drink between this limited period of time. A Muslim fasts in the month of Ramadan as an obligation although there are certain days for non-obligatory fasting too.
Suhoor and Al-Iftar: Eating and drinking must be ended before azaan ul Fajr, after that nothing should be swallowed. The fast is broken after azaan ul Maghrib; now one can eat till the Fajr prayers. Intention(Niyyah) should be made on both times by reciting a short verse, different each time.

Many people around the world due to lack of blood in their vessels. There are many reasons for a patient to have insufficient blood. Some of the reasons are anemia, blood loss due to trauma or surgery, inability of the bone marrow to produce blood cells, congenital anomalies, abnormal blood cells that are being degraded continuously.

If you are a healthy person, you should donate blood but it may click to you if donating blood safe for your health or not. Well, the possible risk of donating blood after a one hour procedure is as follows.

  • Hypotension
  • Inflammation or infection at the site of needle puncture

The patient after donating blood is kept in bed for at least ten to fifteen minutes. This is because right after blood is withdrawn from the body, the patient may feel dizziness due to hypo-tension which is because of reduced the red blood cells. In order to avoid these conditions of weakness, you should have proper sleep of eight to ten hours; you should be well fed, and well hydrated. Some rare risks also include infection at the site of injection of the large caliber needle.

Women who experience heavy periods and patients with iron deficiency anemia are not allowed to donate blood. one cannot give blood if they are hypertensive as well.
