Diarrhea is:

Increased bowel movements resulting in loose and watery stool

It is quite common GIT issue and is normally not a very serious issue.

It is normal to have it once or twice every year.

It normally lasts for two to three days.

Malabsorption of food due any reason

Laxative abuse

Hyperthyroidism

Some tumors

Alcohol abuse

Diabetes

Competitive running

There can be alternating Diarrhea that is followed by constipation in some cases of irritable bowel syndrome.

Symptoms of Diarrhea that you should know:

Symptoms of diarrhea can divide diarrhea as uncomplicated diarrhea and/or complicated diarrhea. In complicated diarrhea is a serious issue that needs to be treated right away.

The following are the symptoms of uncomplicated diarrhea:

Abdominal bloating or cramps in the abdomen

Loose, watery or thin stools

Sense of urge to have a bowel movement right away

Nausea and/or vomiting

The following are the symptoms of complicated diarrhea:

When there is:

Blood

Excessive mucus

Undigested food in the feces

Loss of weight

Increase in body temperature

Diarrhea may cause excessive fluid wasting in stool and the patient may go into a state of dehydration. Therefore, if there is diarrhea that is going on for more than a day, make sure you see a doctor immediately.
