Fight and prevent diseases with a daily apple

An apple a day keeps the doctor away” is a proverb from the 19th century, popularized by fruit specialist J.T. Stinson during a lecture at the 1904 World’s Fair in St. Louis, Missouri, USA. But how can one daily apple help you?

Rich in Vitamins A, B1, B2, B3, B5, B6, B9, C, E, K, calcium, iron, magnesium, manganese and phosphorus, antioxidants and fibers  the fruit should be eaten regularly for so many benefits:

– Apples can help reduce the risk of many types of cancer, including colon, prostate and lung cancer. Research has also shown a reduction of the risk of healthy adults developing pancreatic cancer by up to 23%.

– Research studies on rats consuming a diet full of apple peels showed increased levels of skeletal muscle and brown fat (the good fat, which burns the bad (white) fat). The same studies showed a decrease in white fat, obesity, glucose intolerance and fatty liver disease.

– Apple juice concentrated, administered to mice, showed higher levels in the production of a neurotransmitter called acetylcholine in studies. This neurotransmitter can help keep Alzheimer’s away and lower heart rate, among other important functions.

– Fruit flies which fed from an apple extract daily had an increase of 10% in longevity compared to other flies having a normal diet.

– Red apples contain quercetin, an antioxidant that can boost your immune system especially in times of stress.

– People who consume a diet full of antioxidant rich fruit are 10-15% less likely to develop cataracts.

– The fibers found in apples fight against diarrhea and constipation. Fibers absorb excess water from your stools to slow your bowels down, and they can also pull water out of your colon and into your stools to keep things moving when you are constipated.
