Green tea is made from the plant Camellia sinensis, it is actually the same plant black tea is made; the difference is in the way of processing it. Green tea has been used for more than 50 centuries; its native grooving territory is probably in China. Green tea, but also every other tea from the plant Camellia sinensis, is rich source of polyphenols, which are antioxidants that help destroy free radicals in the body. There is a study stating that the green and the black tea contain nearly 10 times more polyphenols than fruits and vegetables. Green tea also contains Vitamin C, some of the Vitamins B group, zinc, magnesium, manganese, potassium, amino acids, sterols, caffeine etc.

More and more studies prove that green tea benefits are incredible; here are some of the benefits from regularly drinking it:

–          It prevents the occurrence of many types of cancers, the bigger the consumption the bigger the prevention it is said. There is a Japanese study that says in woman who are drinking green tea prior and after the operation of breast cancer there is much lower chance for recurrence. It also helps prevent lung cancer.

–          It prevents heart disease and atherosclerosis, and provides better recovery to those who already suffered a stroke.

–          It helps boost immune system and prevents from flu and cold.

–          Helps lower the ‘bad’ cholesterol.

–          The green tea has the ability to prevent degradation of the liver by the toxins in alcohol and the smoke from the cigars.

–          It is natural way to fight hard rocks in kidneys.

–          Recent studies show that green tea is good for dental care; it destroys the bacteria that are reason for bad breath.

–          Green tea contains a substance that boost metabolism and helps lose or maintain weight.

Green tea even in great amounts does only good to you, but because of the caffeine it is good to consume no more than 4 -5 cups a day.
