Importance of Sleep

Sleep is important for our health. It ‘s always been said that poor sleep is bad for our body and can cause many problems. Sleep can greatly affect our day. Fewer hours of sleep makes us more irritable and can certainly make us fat.  According to studies, sleep for eight hours a day can help lose weight. Very often, we have heard that to feel good and have a healthy life, sleeping at eight hours per day is essential.

Chronic sleep deprivation may cause weight gain by affecting the way our bodies process and store carbohydrates. This is done by changing the levels of hormones that affect our appetite. Sleep deprivation also alters our immunity, including the activity of the body’s killer cells. Lack of sleep may result in impatience, irritability, inability to concentrate, and mood swings. Lack of sleep can also leave you too tired to do the things you like to do.

Adults need at least seven hours of sleep per night, while children need a bit more. We all take sleep for granted until we realize how badly it effects our system. We then quickly remember how desirable a good night’s sleep is. That shouldn’t be the case. Having at least 8 hours of sleep per day decreases the risk of heart and brain diseases.
