Normal Blood Sugar Levels

The glucose is a compound that our body makes from food, and that under normal conditions, provides us with the necessary energy that our body needs. However, there are some conditions that alter the amount and cause disease . Today we’ll tell you what blood sugar levels are normal and what the consequences are of its alteration.

Knowing what normal blood glucose levels that we have is very important for people who have been diagnosed with pre-diabetes or type 2 diabetes. People with this condition must continuously control and prevent the rise or fall more than they should to avoid complications.

Generally, blood glucose levels that are considered normal are between 70 and 150mg. These levels vary throughout the day by several factors including the type of food we we eat and time, because our metabolism is more active during certain times of day.

  • When there is a low glucose level of 70mg, there is a condition known as hypoglycemia (low blood sugar), which leads to decreased energy, irritability, dizziness and fainting in some cases.
  • Meanwhile, if the level rises steadily over 150mg, it is hyperglycemia (high blood sugar) which can lead to a chronic disease in diabetes.

If you present any of these conditions, it is best to consult your doctor to let you know the steps to learn to control your glucose levels and avoid the appearance of greater evils.
