Poor Eating Habits in Adolescents

Adolescence is the stage of rebellion. Teenagers rebel against authority, rules, and also against food. This is very dangerous to their health, as there may be problems ranging from obesity to anorexia and bulimia.

If you have young children, it is important to take measures to adopt healthy food they need to grow and develop healthily. We present some typical poor eating habits in adolescents and tips to help you deal with them.

Forgetting breakfast. To not be late for school, many young people forget this important meal. Teenagers need the nutrients and energy provided by breakfast for good health, growth and school performance.

Sweet tooth. Teens tend to favor high-fat foods, because they are attracted to junk food, sweets, desserts and processed foods. This is a bad eating habit, as it adds a lot of calories that lead to obesity, and therefore, may be generator of hypertension, diabetes, high cholesterol and heart disease.

Parents should hide desserts, sweets and high fat snacks that are in the kitchen, because it can be tempting for young people, as they have the desire to eat them right away. Replace them with fresh fruits in season. It is a good way to encourage fruit consumption among youth.

Consumption of soft drinks. Most young people have a passion for carbonated and sugary soft drinks, which in excess is dangerous for the body. It is best to replace these drinks with water or natural fruit juices.
