Postpartum Blues (Take Time for Yourself)

Some mothers experience what is known as the baby blues.

This happens because your body goes through many changes during pregnancy. These feelings of sadness may arise before or after the baby is born.

You may feel discouraged or tense, or feel like to mourn over little things that would not usually bother. Do not worry, these feelings are common. They do not last forever.

You may also have trouble sleeping. If so, at least try to rest. You are going through a very stressful time. Getting some rest may help cope with their feelings.

It may be helpful to talk with others about their feelings. Talk to your family and friends. Find a support group for parents in your community. Churches and religious organizations in your community may be able to help you find someone to talk to. You can also talk to your doctor.

If you have family or friends who can help with meals, cleaning or shopping, this is the time for help. It is also a good time to let your better half help.
