Tips for Preventing Varicose Veins

Varicose veins are twisted, swollen veins that are filled after an accumulation of blood. They have a particular expansion that does not allow adequate blood to return to the heart.

Any vein can become varicose. However, they often become those this type that are those of the legs and feet, as when standing in an upright posture as pressure increases in the veins in the lower part of the body. Also in some cases, it occurs in some sensitive areas such as the esophagus, anus and testicles.

There are different factors that affect the formation of varicose veins and also hindering its prevention. The older the woman gets, the more likely to have varicose veins.

Here are some tips to prevent varicose veins:

Do diet and exercise regularly

Exercise, as we know is good for all aspects that concerns health. A balanced diet accompanying the exercises is always the best option. Foods with high fat content tend to create problems and increase the chances of varicose veins.

Take a walk

Considering that it often occurs in the legs and lower body areas, taking a walk or run is vital to prevent varicose veins. Walking can strengthen muscles in the area and improve circulation of blood in the veins of the legs.

Weight loos

Being overweight is another factor that also affect in a profound way in the formation of varicose veins. The extra kilos of being overweight adds more weight and exerts pressure on the legs. It eventually weakens the valves of the veins in the legs.

Do not cross your legs

Crossing your legs is something commonly done almost unconsciously. Crossing the legs sometimes affect the blood’s circulation. That is why, it is best to avoid it whenever you notice that you are doing this position.

Put your feet up

Putting your feet up is easy and takes less than 10 minutes. What you do is, at least once a day, whenever you can, lift your feet and keep them up for about 5 or 10 minutes minimum. You can do it against a wall or closet. Doing this improves circulation.
